NORTHERN KENTUCKY

Northern Kentucky generally refers to the three northernmost counties in Kentucky. Northern Kentucky is unique because it offers both the fast-paced excitement of the big city and the relaxed lifestyle and quiet beauty of Kentucky's rolling hills. The slower pace of small communities make this area a very pleasant place to call home where friendliness is just a way of life here.

The counties, from west to east are Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties. Northern Kentucky is considered part of the Cincinnati Metropolitan Area and is located south of Cincinncati across the Ohio River. Each county has at least one major center of population: Florence in Boone County; Covington, Erlanger, and Independence in Kenton County; and Newport, Fort Thomas, and Alexandria in Campbell County.

You will find many lovely towns in Northern Kentucky. For example, Covington is a riverfront city, at the cross hairs of the Ohio and Licking rivers just across the bridge from Cincinnati. You will find a mix of cultural attractions, small specialty shops and corporate businesses. Covington offers historical neighborhoods featuring beautiful architecture and vintage homes. Fort Thomas is located near the Ohio river just south of Dayton and north of Highland Heights. You will find tree-lined residential homes both new construction and historic homes. Residents enjoy spectacular views of the Ohio river valley and the Cincinnati skyline. Boone County is located in the largest bend of the Ohio River, a few miles downstream from Cincinnati. For forty-two miles the Ohio River bounds the county on the north and west. As in most sections of the outer Bluegrass Region of Kentucky, the land in Boone County is gently rolling to steeply hilly.
